SEND

'The school ensures that the additional needs of pupils with SEND are identified quickly. It works closely with parents and carers and outside agencies to provide pupils with the help that they need. The support provided to pupils with SEND enables them to access the same curriculum as their peers.'

OFSTED May 2024

Welcome to our SEND information page which is part of the Cheshire East Local Offer for Learners with special needs.  Many children need a little extra help or support at some time in their school life.We have an excellent team of people at Bickerton Holy Trinity CE Primary School who are willing to listen and support you and your child. Please take a moment to read about how this might be identified at Bickerton Holy Trinity CofE Primary School. If you have a concern about your child then initially please contact your child's class teacher to arrange a meeting.

Supporting your child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

All Cheshire East Local Authority (LA) maintained schools have a similar approach to meeting the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and are supported by the LA to ensure that all pupils, regardless of their specific needs, make the best possible progress in school.

The Cheshire East Live Well pages provide a wealth of information. The following linkwill take you to the home page where you will find its local offer.

0-25 Cheshire East Local Offer for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)

All schools are supported to be as inclusive as possible, with the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities being met in a mainstream setting wherever possible.

The four broad ‘areas of need’ are:

-Communication and Interaction

-Cognition and Learning

-Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties

-Sensory and Physical Needs.

By highlighting these areas we meet Article 18 for the Rights of the child which makes clear that we must support parents by creating support services for children and give parents the help they need to raise their children.

As a school, we use the Cheshire East SEND Toolkit as its Graduated Response to SEND. The Toolkit is a large document so individual sections that may be of interest are:

Graduated Approach in Schools

Neurodiversity

Reasonable Adjustments

Early Help and Social Care
